Nancy Havlik’s Dance Performance Group with guest artists presents Imaginary Gardens, an evening of experimental dance / theater at Dance Loft on 14 on March 9, 2019.

Imaginary Gardens is a collaboration between Nancy Havlik’s Dance Performance Group, members of Arts for the Aging’s Quicksilver Senior Dance Company and invited artist Shanna Lim.

This program of new pieces will be performed on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 8pm at Dance Loft on 14, 4618 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20011.

The Program:

Nancy Havlik’s Dance Performance Group performs three premiers.

Imaginary Gardens plants ordinary objects in the mind and cultivates the images which spring up around them. This premier is for 6 dancers with music by Company member Aquiles Holladay.

Us is a dance improvisation score for 10 dancers in honor of Havlik’s mentor Robert Dunn. Four members of Quicksilver Senior Dance Company join Dance Performance Group members with music performed live by Wall Matthews.

Finally, Havlik’s dancers perform Chain Solos, a series of short pieces highlighting the personal responses of the company members to the question “tell me about your dream home”.

Guest choreographer Shanna Lim stretches the boundaries of interactive dance, blending modern / urban / cultural dance with theatrical vernacular, including clown, storytelling and body art, to create an encompassing visual and performative art experience.
