Choreographer Nancy Havlik, a company of 6 dancers, videographer Brian Harris and musicians Daniel Barbiero, Gary Rouzer and Nate Scheible ask questions about home and homelessless, presence and absence in two dance premieres and a music set.
The Program:
Honing / Home incorporates dance, live music, song, text and videography into a multi-media journey of discovery exploring belonging, being alone or together and what it means to search for and find a place to call Home.
In the interlude Win! Place! Show!, the dancers and musicians give us a fond look at vaudeville through a prism of old time dance shticks, show biz routines and magic tricks.
Place is more than a physical space: it's also the sounds – familiar and unfamiliar – that fill it. Set Up hears musicians Nate Scheible, Gary Rouzer and Daniel Barbiero explore the edges of silence with an improvisation of plucked, struck and bowed sounds.
The Performers:
Choreography: Nancy Havlik & the Company
Dancers: Sarah Chapin, Jonathan DeVilbiss, Juliana Ponguta Forero, Erica Hagen, Ken Manheimer, Sarah Schaffer
Musicians: Daniel Barbiero (double bass) Gary Rouzer (cello, found objects), Nate Scheible (percussion)
